Descriptionclassic team up of Lex Luthor (earth 1) and Alexi Luthor (earth 2) who join forces and land on earth 3(home of Ultraman of the crime syndicate) As Alexi Luthor plots to destroy both earth 1 and earth 2 and rid themselves of all the superhero's they have faced in the past. great page as they intend to dupe ultraman into helping them and then destroy him. beautiful page layout by rich Buckler as ultraman picks up the machinery with one hand as the two Luthor's talk of their plans. Classic DC fun as you get a luthor from each Earth(alex Luthor was a superhero on earth 3) and a superman from each also.(ultraman was the evil superman from earth 3)Social/Sharing |

What a great page! I read mostly Marvel in my early days, and was (and still am) turned off by the concept of multiple earths/timelines/realities etc, so with DC I stuck primarily to Batman, Superman, Flash and the JLA. Because of that, Crisis on Infinite Earths was my first introduction to Ultraman and many other characters. His death in Crisis really made an impression on me though, due primarily to Wolfman and Pérez's ability to make the series really feel as if entire worlds and their inhabitants were really dying. It's very cool to see Ultraman along with the two Luthors in this great chapter splash. Nice find!

it's funny that Alexi Luthor is so bat -shit crazy that he wants to destroy both earths and Lex Luthor actually tries to talk him out of it., If you read Crisis on Infinte Earths issue 9 (the villains war) Lex Lutor and Braniac gather the villains from earth 1and 2. Alexi Luthor is in the crowd and yells out that " he is the smartest Luthor and they didn't need Lex." Brianiac promptly shots a beam and kills Alexi Luthor.) that panel iwas always funny to me.

Looks great like a combination of Buckler's Superman and Fantastic Four as the Thing lifts Reed's giant lab Kirby machinery. The treachery of the Luthors are well done with the shadow on faces that act like stains on their souls.

the one thing about when Vil;lains team up is that eventually they are going to turn on each other that causes them to lose. I like the Idea that lex Luthor wants to kill the heros but dosen't want the umans to die, Alexi luthor doesn't give a damnand will kill everyone to achieve his goals.

I loved Buckler's art, and, growing up, there were few things I looked forward to more than DC's multiple earth crossovers, so this one really hits all the nostalgia notes for me.

I always looked forward to the Jsa-Jla team up every year. it was great to see all those heros and villains I grew up reading getting to square of with each other again.
