DescriptionInfinity Inc # 30 page 26Pencils by Todd McFarlane Inks by Tony DeZuniga DC Comics - September 1986 Some early work from the Toddfather! I'm not generally a Green Lantern collector but I couldn't pass up the chance to own some McFarlane art, which is something I didn't think I'd have a chance to do. This page jumped out at me with the unique page layout where we can see McFarlane pushing beyond the traditional rules with the shapes and position of panels, the repeating Lantern logo, and the cape flowing through out, which give the page a splashy feel. Speaking of, that cape and hand pose!! I loved seeing McFarlane playing with the cape giving it it's own personality on the page. When I look at this I can't help but think about the cape he drew on the cover of Batman #423 two years later and much later with Spawn. This page also came with some sweet bonus art on the back by McFarlane that looks like it may have been an abandoned preliminary sketch for Infinity Inc #26 cover or splash page. Thanks to my pal McSpidey for making these pages possible for a fellow collector! You got a cape, and that's a major win!
Totally agree! I also love how McFarlane angled the cape folds to flow from panel to panel as well. So much movement in the page.

The Todd father's capes are almost as iconic as his spaghetti webbing!

This page is a great example of how deliberate Todd is. Some will say his stuff at Marvel was "overstylized" but you can see here he has a clear grasp on the fundamentals of comic art. He was not style over substance.

Well said! The more I look the more the seemingly simple things reveal some smart storytelling techniques like the angles Todd chose in the first two panels.

How can anyone NOT love this page with its sweet depiction of Green Batman and a nice Obsidian cameo thrown in for good measure!?

This was a touching issue that Todd handled beautifully. Love the layouts here.

Forget bricks, overlong overflowing capes are the best!

You can see McFarlane already working out his super unique layouts and storytelling, and yes! The cape!! Worth the price of admission! Congrats!
