Description

Before Marvel revived the Western "Ghost Rider" character (Carter Slade) in 1967, wearing a wild phosphorescent white costume complete with full face mask, a flowing cape and the requisite white hat, Dick Ayers and Stan Lee introduced a similar mysterious-looking character in a different colored outfit in 1964: THE PURPLE PHANTOM!

Wow! It looks just like Western Ghost Rider if we didn't know. You can tell when it's Ayers as his western pages had more refinement on the faces and horses than most.
