Description

Brian Thomas is a talented artist who's worked on several modern D&D modules from various publishers. When I saw his ability to work in the same style as the old school 1st edition Dungeons and Dragons modules and source books I contacted him to fill a void in my trophy wall commissions, my favorite of all the Demons featured in the old Monster Manual source book. Orcus, Prince of the Undead, and Goat-Headed, Chaotic-Evil, most powerful of all Demons.

When I spoke to Brian he was on board with Orcus being the winner of the final March Madness in Hell, taking on and taking out all comers. Really though, this is a nostalgia piece for me. Being a kid, paging through the Monster Manual, setting up games with friends where we'd go after Orcus' treasures only to be wiped out in seconds, it brings back a lot of memories.

Brian went all out. The curtain made from human skin, the Harryhousen-style skeleton warriors emerging from the ground, the throne of bone and skulls, the heads of the Demogorgon, Asmodeous, and Baalzebul mounted behind him and then the band of adventurers in for the fight of their life. They come complete with a Dwarven Warrior obviously letting his mouth write a check we hope his skills can cash, and a Paladin off to the right kissing his holy symbol and his ass goodbye.

The era of pencil and dice RPG's lives on.

A great trophy piece! Brings the fantasy to life with the visualization of the climactic end boss confrontation.
