I have a list. You may also. On my list is a collection of names of artists and stories that I've targeted for collection should they come up. The list is supposed to keep me focused. It's a (now faulty?) mechanism to keep my money and attention focused on what I've identified as important to me in my collecting journey. Jim Cheung was not on said list.

A friend forwarded me the listing for this piece and I instantly fell in love. The draftsmanship is top notch. So many details. But what I think really sings here is that the piece speaks directly to why I love superheroes, why I love Wonder Woman. They stand for something higher. Something that too often is lacking outside the pages. The overlay came with the art, and I have to admit that it adds considerable weight to the scene. I wish that modern pages contained this element that can, when merged with pencil and ink, transcend the bristol board.

A great Jim Cheung piece just on it's own with a splashy tribute image of Wonder Woman for purpose of the anniversary. Everything around it is for the narrative, but this was a book for artists to contribute with their A+ game.

I love this piece. For some reason it makes me feel like I am looking at a GI Combat page with Wonder Woman in the mix. Great looking page.
