Description

Gould's revolutionary approach to the hard-boiled crime feature achieved a sustained greatness during the 1940s -- building upon strengths developed during the 1930s. There are only three to four known original dailies for the years of 1934 through 1936," wrote Jerry Weist in his Comic Art Price Guide, and this is one of from the end of the year in 1936. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 20" x 5.75". Mild toning and/or smudging, horizontal crease down the middle, marginal pinholes, and whiteout corrections. Signed and inscribed.
