Description15" x 10" image area. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Captain Atom Vol 2 #5 Page 18 Original Art (DC, 1987). Pat Broderick and Bob Smith. First appearance of Doctor Spectro (reintroduction post-crisis).That's right, Miss Ryan. Keep taking those pictures. Everything will be alright. Thomas Emery was the lab assistant of Professor Bivolo, the father of the Rainbow Raider. When the younger Bivolo began his criminal career, Emery followed his example and stole his employer's light-based technology. Post-Crisis, Doctor Spectro was re-introduced in Captain Atom Vol. 2, #5 (July 1987), in a story written by Cary Bates and drawn by Pat Broderick. In the new version Doctor Spectro was really Tom Emery. A newspaper reporter discovered that "Doctor Spectro" was the creation of General Wade Eiling to act as a fake supervillain whose exploits were used to provide a cover story for the Captain Atom project. Emery was mistaken by a newspaper reporter for Doctor Spectro due to the fact the made-up supervillain used the same technology as the Rainbow Raider's. After Emery murdered the reporter, he decided to adopt the Doctor Spectro identity. Dr. Spectro has a prism projector built into his costume that emits colorful beams of light that cause a number of negative effects in people. Social/Sharing |

Yes. Why attract a lot of attention to yourself when you can invite people to take pictures of you in that first panel with that machine attached to your Spectro regions? Great mix of modern and classic Kirby in the tech design.
