DescriptionLiam Sharp has been getting some well deserved praise for his recent work on Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. I first became a fan of his art in the 90's when he was working on Death's Head and then the Hulk. I've been picking up examples of his Hulk art for a while now, but this one is probably my favorite. This is a "cover quality" splash featuring a 90's pumped up Speedfreek facing off against the Hulk (futilely attempting to keep a low profile via bandages, sunglasses and a bandanna). It's got a cool stained glass window background and some slick inking by Robin Riggs. I think this is one of those pages that benefits by not having the word balloons on it. Thanks to Steve Yarish for the trade. Social/Sharing |

Not sure what this might say about me, but I can't stop looking at those nipples. LOL! In any case, this is a tremendous cover. Reminds me that I need to put a Sharp page on my wantlist.

Ha yeah -- they're pretty prominent. I think this came out at around the same time as Batman Forever -- so apparently nipples on armored costumes was a thing back in the mid 90's...

That's a really great example of Liam Sharp 90's art gooness on display here! Congrats!

I think he fires bullets from those nipples. It's pretty impressive to see Liam's work from back then, following up Gary Frank's run on the title. Riggs was a very complimentary inker for his style, too.

A display of 90's unabashed machismo where the male anatomy is visually a weapon that assaults the senses with testosterone and roided out bulges and some glorious Fabio hair. He is framed with a stained glass motif as if he is a gift sent from the heavens to fanboys looking for the next big thing.
