DescriptionI must confess that I am not an avid Swamp Thing fan although I recently purchased two pages - one an older piece and the other a more modern piece. This is the latter and I purchased it primarily because it was by Mike Perkins. Mike's art is fantastic - it is finely textured and, on occasion, even close to photo-realistic. That this current series is accompanied by great writing enhances the artwork even more. This is an amazing splash page where the Swamp Thing is transformed as a result of the Green Lantern's Oath (look at the logo on his chest)! A stunning page!Rubén's website still contains some stunning artwork from this particular issue at https://www.comicbookartgallery.com/GalleryRoom.asp?GSub=1009&Details=1 Equally stunning artwork from Mike's earlier issues in the series can also be found at this website. Given the astronomical prices for original comic art (even from more modern series), the artwork described here is - without exaggeration - a real bargain, given that its quality is really of the very first rank. Indeed, I also picked up a number of excellent pieces of artwork at excellent prices from Rubén's recent live show featuring Andrew Hennessy inked artwork at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qLGdK6DdPo Although it really isn't to my benefit to say this (because I hope to purchase more artwork), collectors who take the trouble to participate may well be in for lots of bargains during the next 3 shows (each featuring 40 pages of artwork sold at a brisk pace with much community banter in accompaniment). Oh my gosh, I just posted this piece in the Original Art group on Facebook for the benefit of Swamp Thing fans who don't hang out on CAF, to see. But I did so BEFORE reading the description and realizing most of it, although well meaning and I appreciate it greatly, looks like a paid promotional ad for Mike and myself! Ah well, you are too kind, my friend!
Now to get to what's important here, this page of art. It truly is a magnificent work of art, isn't it? Set aside that Ram V is honoring Alan Moore by turning the tail end of his run on the title into an homage of sorts to the stories at the tail end of his own run, this version of The Swamp Thing is so crazy and imaginative that it has me staring at it in awe every time I see it. While I felt bad for the 3 other people who attempted to buy this as soon as it hit my site, I'm still happy to know you ended up being the first one to get your order in, if only by a few seconds, literally, ahead of the 2nd collector! A fabulous splash from a fabulously written and drawn series. I can't wait to see what happens in the final 2 issues! Congratulations on owning this one!

Many thanks, Rubén. It is a fabulous splash indeed! I was performing more of a community service even though, as I mentioned, it is against my own interest. Lots of collectors are paying lots more for artwork nowadays, some of which (even allowing for the inevitable difference in tastes) may not even be as good as, say, Mike's work. As you know, I purchase artwork from all sources - and yours has been as good as any on offer.

That's a great splash that combines two of the greatest powers of the DC Universe.

Many thanks, James. And many thanks to everyone who has taken the trouble to comment on this piece. For the more vintage Swamp Thing piece, you can see it at:
