The Hellboy HeroesCon showcase continues with this screen toned version of Anung Un Rama, from the true master of the skull, Alexis Ziritt.

When I first attended HeroesCon in 2019, I ended up initially meeting Alexis Ziritt and buying some Space Riders pages from him. This year I was anxious to get the chance to talk to him again, especially after acquiring the recent High On Fire piece. Cam at Inky Knuckles opened up his show list and I knew he would make a great addition to the other Hellboy pieces I had lined up.

Alexis did a wonderful job with this one. The tones are a nice touch to the character, and I especially love the signature Mignola fire around the Red Hand of Doom. Hellboy is well equipped with his pistol, plenty of pouches, and even a rosary to ward off incoming evil. Oh and did I mention that there's a GIANT SKULL in the background! Large enough to possibly be an entrance to a cave or tomb, the skull adds a haunting presence to the commission.

I picked this up on Friday from Alexis, thanked him and also told him how much I love the High On Fire piece. He is another artist that is a true pleasure to speak with, and also very funny. On Saturday, I ran into him again, and we looked at some more of his art. After we were done talking he handed me a drawing. It was another skull, a bonus skull!!! (see additional image) Further proof that he really is the master of the skull.

Cool image of Hellboy, and I love what appears to be a melting skull, really giving this artwork an extra horror element that rounds out the piece so well.

LOVE the melting skill in the background! Overall, the details on HB vs the white skull vs the all black background all adds a killer contrast throughout! Congrats, T!
