Description

This was a pencil jam piece done at MCCC in 2019, at one of the last cons I attended before the lockdowns took effect. I had intended to get this inked, but thus far it just hasn't happened.

The artist lineup is as follows:

Ariel/Sandy - Philip Moy
Megara/Rizzo - Anthony Marques
Rapunzel/Frenchy - Jay A. DeFoy
Aurora/Marty - Jeff Johnson
Anna/Jan - N. Steven Harris

The change in Disney casting for Rizzo came about due to various cosplayers at conventions not feeling Brianna Garcia's Belle-as-Rizzo art (also in this gallery), and arguing for a more aggressive Disney girl to play the role. Megara and Esmerelda were the two characters who kept coming up over and over again, and of the two Meg was the one who. visually at least, felt more Rizzo-esque. I still like Garcia's Belle/Rizzo, but for the purposes of this jam I didn't mind switching it up.

Aurora as Marty was an automatic. It had to be her, especially with Ariel as Sandy. There was never any consideration of anyone else in that role.

Frenchy and Jan were a nightmare to Disney up, especially since so many Disney girls could work as Frenchy, and both Rapunzel and Anna could pull off Jan's pigtails. Picking which one would be which was like pulling teeth, and EVERYBODY had wildly differing ideas as to who should have been Frenchy. (I saw a lot of women stumping for Tinker Bell, based on the Pixie Hollow franchise.) Ultimately I just had to grit my teeth, make a choice, and hope for the best. I think it turned out well in the end, considering.
