Description

I picked up this double page splash along with the Wolverine/Cyclops splash back in 2005 from Leinil Yu himself at a convention here in Australia. These pages were my first foray into the comic art realm. Unfortunately, life got in the way and it took me another 13 years to continue my art collecting. If only I continued collecting back then, if only..

Leinil was one of the original Marvel �Young Guns�, touted as the best up and coming Marvel artists, along with other greats at the time like Cheung, McNiven and Finch. His bold striking lines, eye for detail and cool use of shadow are what draws me to his work. Since the 00's he�s consistently delivered on a plethora of prime books for Marvel. It�s been a nostalgic trip to see him back on the current X-Men run.

I feel fortunate to own some of Leinil�s earlier work from one of my favourite books, especially now that he mostly works digitally. One day when I get a chance to frame up some of my pages this DPS will definitely be amongst them.

Really amazing with the Yu signature style of those thin lines in the figures. Vines follows them very precisely and then adds a nice heavy brush where needed to have greater visual power over two boards.

Yu has some great talent for shading and styling/page design. Nice DPS, congrats.
