Description“Sometimes a monster … can come in pretty handy.” -KorgPublished twice - as a regular comic cover and a TPB cover. One of the Planet Hulk follow up stories, this one focused on the Warbound group that was established with Hulk while in captivity awaiting the arena battles on planet Sakaar, which aligned with the Planet Hulk and World War Hulk stories. Chasing Jim Cheung art was a long and arduous journey. He wasn’t really doing many large-scale commissions when I started seeking his art and his published works are very sought after and usually sell very quickly. I was very fortunate to buy a commission from a fellow collector a couple years back and was thrilled with his version of the Grey Hulk And then, last year, this cover became available – again from another fellow collector – and I was absolutely thrilled to be able to add it to my collection. I especially enjoy how well the World War Hulk art looks in person – much clearer than on the published cover where the art was muted for publication. I’d like to say my Jim Cheung quest is complete, but I still find myself looking for his art, and would love to add him to my Bob Larkin homage gallery at some point in the future. Social/Sharing |

On a tour of world war lands
My showcase art measured Hulk hands
And aftersmash is Kaifi planned
For Hiroim and a No-Name band
Hulk war-bound
I wish I was Hulk war-bound

Absolutely fabulous World War Hulk cover! Jim Cheung's work is just off the charts cool! Love this montage with Korg and the Brood, but especially love that large bust of the Hulk looming above them! Great pick-up! Congrats!

Very cool to get a cover featuring not just Hulk but all his Planet Hulk cohorts as well! And wrapped in a Jim Cheung bow no less....congrats, Dave!

Thanks Eranga! Yes, getting a Warbound team impage on a cover was a huge get - not something I expected but thrilled when it became a reality!

I remember hearing about World War Hulk before it came out and thinking it sounded like another inane crossover cash grab. I was happy to admit that I was wrong. It was so much fun, and having a Cheung cover from that storyline is a huge get. Congrats!

I remember being a bit trepidatious when I heard about the story as well, but it wildly surpassed my expectations. All-time great Hulk arc IMHO

Congrats on checking Cheung off the list, Dave - a must! And a heckuva way to do it. So clearly Jim, mixing the cartoony comic book look with that trademark detail. Love the way the rays are going through the background Hulk image. I had the cover to Avengers: The Initiative #4 at one point, and kinda regret moving it. Way it goes, though! Congrats, again!
