Description

This is an idea that I've been carrying around for a while. There have been a number of Marvel characters created over the years who are "homages" of Superman, and I wanted to get a piece featuring them facing off against the real thing.

I wanted to use John Byrne's cover to Superman 8 as the layout, just because I love that cover so much. And the Superman 8 cover was itself Byrne homaging his own cove to Fantastic Four 249. You can see both of these covers in the additional images.

I contacted Steven Butler to create this for me, and he did a spectacular job! He had done a couple of other pieces for me in the past, and I knew he would kill it!

That's a fantastic homage piece- though we all know Gladiator would win that fight!
