Description

Hisssss! H.R. Giger's distinctively elongated Xenomorph heads captured the imagination of audiences niche and mainstream. Thanks to Disney's purchase of 20th Century Fox, Marvel has the rights for a new series starting Fall 2022, with a slew of variant covers to kick things off. Charest opts for the close-up, slinging a variety of techniques for the difficult challenge of depicting black-on-black textures. The piece looks best to me in landscape, though the cover used it in portrait orientation.

Travis Charest artwork is still some of the most compelling and complex out there as he continues to evolve techniques and story into his images. The painted work up close may be amazing, but taken in as a whole from afar has the Giger feel with high splatter energy!
