Description

OK, let's be frank at the beginning, many of Paul Murry's Mickey Mouse stories are lacking a bit of good storytelling, the scripts he got weren't always that great, like what Carl Barks made (scripted and inked himself).

But once I read Paul Murry's Mickey Mouse stories in my childhood, they do have emotional values for me, offering lots of nostalgic feelings.
And especially this story, The Moose Call. It was published in Finland in 1977, and it was in the 3rd Finnish Aku Ankka issue that was ordered for me! :-) I had learned reading from Aku Ankka already in the previous year, from random older issues, but this was among the first ones I started getting on every Wednesday by post.
It is also very nice to note now that this script is not that bad at all! :-)
And Murry's artwork is awesome! When I read those Aku Ankkas I never had a clue how huge and awesome the original artwork could be.
So, this complete story is offering a great nostalgic trip for me! Feeling very lucky to have it, actually feeling a bit unrealistic, is it really now true to have it?
This is also the earliest known Murry's complete MM story still together. All the rest 8-pagers from 1970-1975 have been sold separately.

Paul Murry's original artwork was routinely destroyed, just like by Carl Barks' artwork was too. In the period from 1950 - 1984 Paul Murry drew  5.821 comic book pages. Of this number of pages we know for certain that around 346 pages ( 6 % ) have survived - and 99 % of the surviving material is from the period 1970 - 1984.

When professor and collector Don Ault in around 1970 asked Western editor Del Connell if they had made the same mistake by destroying the artwork by Paul Murry – and Del replied they sadly had – that the remaining artwork from 1970 and up to 1983 was kept and saved.

This The Moose Call story has been published over 40 times in 18 countries:
