DescriptionI have been looking for what I would call a proper Darrow page for a couple of years now, and am very pleased to have come across this Big Guy & Rusty interior from the Darrow written and illustrated short story from Dark Horse Presents #1, Volume 3.This one checks a lot of boxes when it comes to a great Darrow interior page, and that starts with stunning detail! Plenty of detail to love here and that can mainly be found in the giant creature erupting out of the ocean (Giant creature, check!). The second panel takes an even closer detailed look right at the other creature inside the main creature's mouth. Darrow stories tend to have a recurring theme in those small details, and this one transpires during a busy 4th of July weekend at the beach. The focus here are the beachgoers and their vices. Gone is the natural beauty of the beach, and throughout every page of the story we see an ever increasing amount of garbage in the form of mostly booze and cigarettes. He has also drawn many people staring at their phones and smoking throughout the nine page story. So much for catching a wave :) Another crucial element to a Darrow page...........dogs. Ya gotta have em'. Darrow is the master of working dogs into the mix, and some are notoriously squatting. I'm counting 10 on this page and that makes this a certified D4 (Double Digit Dog Darrow). Some of the other pages in this story actually have more dog (one is a hilarious nod to everyone's favorite party animal, Spuds MacKenzie!!!), but I thought this page has plenty of dog to suffice. Box officially checked. Lastly, we get a decent look at the main characters of the story. The Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot are present in both panels as they assess the current threat and prepare to warn the crowd. And in my opinion, that makes for a complete Darrow interior. A Dino Mauricio's FALCON approach to a Darrow page if you will. Big thanks to David for parting with this page. I am very proud to add to the collection! Great pickup, TT. You called it - this has every element you'd want in a Darrow page.

I don't want to read your looooong write-up so I'll just look at the pretty page. All that mayhem in the top panel and so many calm people around it...and the second panel is just a bonus to the first. Perfect Darrow!

The scale of action and swarm of detail create an overwhelming experience on the page! It deserves a full size reproduction presentation so more can see how impressive Darrow's work is seen up close or from far away.

My lord, this is a wonderfully detailed piece. The lack of Darrow art is a big void in my own collection. This is fantastic!

A fantastic Darrow page-- yes, a FALCON-- with so many ground-breaking elements and key characters, congrats Tyler! Insane details and an inspired July 4th beach scene make for a "one and done" Darrow example for your collection!
