DescriptionRecently, on a trip to see my friend, Greg Land and his lovely wife, Trish, I bought this stunning art to a cover variant for Ms. Marvel # 50. Sadly, Greg told me that, although Marvel asked him to do it, they never used the cover. But I am hoping that maybe they did use it somewhere or will do so in the future since it would be a shame to let this stunning piece go unpublished. If anyone sees this published anywhere, please let me know.Social/Sharing |

This is par for the course with the publishers. They often commission art and then when plans change, they don't use the art. The crazy thing is that they NEVER seem to use it, even though they already paid for it. It's one thing to not use it for the book it was initially intended for, but to never use it again for anything else? That makes zero sense (cents?)! Either way, you have a gorgeous rendition of Ms Marvel by Greg here, so enjoy it for what it is and be happy and consider it a bonus if Marvel ever decides to publish it!

Ruben, I couldn't agree more. Would it be cool to have it published? Definitely. But, I love it just for what it is--a beautiful piece of Ms. Marvel art. Speaking of Ms. Marvel, am I the only one who noticed that Dave Cockrum, the designer of this costume, outfitted Carol in what is basically a dominatrix costume? Same with the original costume Dave designed for Storm.

A very lovely piece! While Land does his thing adding in the fine shading for contours and curvature of the smooth textures, he chooses to have the symbol remain solid and the legs below the sash to meld together. It takes both realism and symbolism in this piece to create this fantasy dream girl pin up.
