Description

A boom tube opens up in the middle of a par and out emerges DeSaad and two shadowy figures come to earth to collect an ancient power of an old God. I love that first panel as the BOOM tube opens a gateway. artist mike Perkins does a fantastic job with the line work of the BOOM tube alternating from very thin to very wide. it's almost a pulsating feel to it as the energy crackles pushing the people away from it. I also like how they portray DeSaad as a shadowy figure with only glimpse of his eyes and teeth and those claw-like hands. Mikes artwork doesn't have to be colored it stand alone just as a black and white ink washed piece. this page was purchased on Mike Perkins art drop by way of Ruben Da Collector's YouTube channel on November 6, 2022.

Yeah, I really love the BOOM effects in the first panel and exactly as you mentioned, DeSaad being depicted the way he is here by Perkins gives him a feeling of terror as opposed to the more "goofy" way he has typically always been portrayed. Love it!

As far as DeSaad it's  the old universal monster movies it's  what you don't  see is the most terrifying. The  Human imagination iscapable of untold horrors that would make Darkseid cringe

An excellent left hand page in the comic before you turn the page for the big reveal!  It builds up a lot of anticipation and drama in the story!

I was hoping to get page 12 and did. I was very happy on one grabbed  this page because  even though not a two page splash. It certainly  has the deel of it they will.look good framed together.

Nothing short of a GLORIOUS two-page sequence you have here, Brian, as the New Gods roar (boom?) into view...  Fantastic drama and build-up thanks to the cinematic staging here, and the white paint puts this one over the top; the wavy pulses of energy cascading out of the spot the Tube is opening add a great three-dimensionality to the piece, and then the white paint "fog" / haze at the bottom works just as effectively to dramatically obscure the figures as they lumber out into view...  Fantastic setting of the stage for the big reveal...  Congrats, Brian!

Jason, your comment is nothing short of GLORIOUS as well, and I don't know how Brian neglected to click the like button on it, but I've got his back and I've always got yours, so you're covered! 😀

thanks Jason it is an awesome page and as you have said that first panel with the BOOM effect reminds me of a star almost buring out and giving one last blaze of light before going dim. The bottom panel almost could be an end page because it has that feel of a big revel as the shadowy figures become clear and you can almost see the words to be continued.....

thanks jason.much appreiated.  As you have said that BOOM panel almost reminds me of a dying star as it pulsates one last time before going dim, the bottom panel has  lat page quality  as the shadowy figure star to come out of the blinding light and revel themselves, you can almost see the words To Be Continued,,,, right after it.

HA!!!  THAT'LL teach Rubén!  Post TWO responses to my comment and then show HIM up!!  Well played, sir!! 😜

Thanks to BOTH of you gents, and at the risk of getting a bit off topic here, that Mike Perkins sure can draw pretty stuff!
