Description

I don't buy sketch covers very often, but back in 2020 when the UK was in lockdown, I bought a bunch of the blank wraparound cover versions of Strange Adventures #1, with the intention of asking a few artists to do me their own versions of Adam Strange, plus a representative selection of other DC science fiction heroes, inserted into scenes from the covers of the original Strange Adventures series.

I picked up this one, from Ian Richardson, at Thought Bubble today - and I think it's a winner!

The Invaders From The Ice World (the eyebeam-blasting snowmen) seen on the cover of 1957's Strange Adventures #79 have attached the Earth again - and are being confronted by (deep breath) Adam Strange, Space Ranger, Captain Comet (1950s version), Tommy Tomorrow, Chris KL-99, Ultra The Multi-Alien, an Atomic Knight, the Star Rovers (in silhouette at top left), Star Hawkins and Rip Hunter!

Calling this a sketch cover doesn't really do it justice!
