Description

A Bruce McCorkindale "what if" version of the cover to DETECTIVE COMICS #423 based on Neal Adams/Bernie Wrightson art from BATMAN #241 with a Golden Age DETECTIVE COMICS trade dress for a retro look. Pen, brush and ink on 13 X 20" bristol board.

The original DETECTIVE COMICS #423 had a fine Michael Kaluta cover, but it came out at the same time as BATMAN #241 with this Neal Adams/Bernie Wrightson image. I suggested to Bruce that he use the Golden Age trade dress for DETECTIVE COMICS since I liked that version better than the 70's trade dress, or the Golden Age BATMAN trade dress.
