DescriptionIn the "Serpent's Teeth" story, Jack-in-the-Box encounters horrific future versions of his children, all of whom hate him. He needs to spend less time on the rooftops and more playing with them! The story title references the myth of Cadmus, who sowed dragon's teeth and reaped fierce soldiers. The fourth panel contains a yellow smoke effect which was rendered as a surprint. The additional images above include the surprint page, inked on vellum, as well as the vellum page overlaid on the main page. Social/Sharing |

Jack-In-the-Box is one of the most down to Earth heroes of Astro City like our Spider-Man and his conumdrums here are too fantastical for most of us to comprehend. Busiek's story grips us in suspense and Anderson's artwork remains grounded with rich details as we follow this story.

As a bonus, here's what you said when the previous owner posted this page on CAF last year: “Jack in The Box was one of the original characters of the first mini series and most thought of as the Spider-man of the universe because of his street level crime fighting and his joyous spirit soaring through the air. Fans had wanted more of him ever since, so Anderson and Busiek delivers! Even without the hype of the original series, Astro City gave us the inner workings of these characters with both action and emotional depth other comics would stretch out over years. With the series being an anthology, the stories are all concise and logical.”

Nevermind that guy, he's a self promoter and had an ugly avatar.
