Description

Happy to add this page from Mizuno's fantasy-horror manga adaptation of Cinderella ("Cinderalla"), translated and published by Viz Media in the the U.S. in 2002.

Mizuno's style is typically described as "kawaii noir" or "Goth kawaii." Since the publication of Cinderalla, Mizuno has continued working in comics. Her latest, Ravina, was published in 2014. In addition to her comics works, Mizuno designs t-shirts, toys, calendars, and other collectibles. Her paintings have also been exhibited at galleries in the U.S. and London.

Really cool that most manga artists have embraced the dark side at some point in their careers. It may speak to the inner fears about themselves and/or about stressful expectations of their rigid society.

WOW, Mark - there is nothing about this that isn't striking. From the highly stylized renditions of characters, to the "haunted doll" fight, to the handwritten captions, to Mizuno's signature, to those awesome thick-lined strawberries... It melts my brain, and I can't look away. Nor do I want to! :) SUCH a cool pick up, Mark - awesome score! Congrats!
