The facial expressions are so expressive - twisted pleasure of the Nazi soldiers "clipping the grass" to the startled communications man Vic in the panel directly below. Mr. Kubert takes the reader along with a panel of the grenade being thrown to the final panel of the machine gun nest blowing up focused on the sound effect, BLAM. Just another day in the trenches for Mr. Kubert.

Really cool page.  I was looking at a page from Joe's first DC war comic just last night at an art gathering.  It was not that easy to tell it was the Joe we know now but on this page only a few years later it is apparent.  I like the BLAM in the final panel, very Kurtzmanesque.  I learned that Joe had worked for Harvey at EC on a war comic and that relationship didn't end well but on your page and the page I saw last night it is apparent how much of an influence Kurzman left on Joe's work.
