DescriptionMy Last post of the Art Days of Christmas 2022 and it's a gift from Lance Suarez that I did not expect. It's the Sunday strip for Wee Pals from May 14, 1972 by Morrie Turner. The comic strip was the first syndicated in the US to feature a cast with diverse ethnic backgrounds. Morrie also liked to drop some knowledge on his Sundays with a Soul Corner section to feature a prominent real life person of color who made a positive change for the betterment of society. This one features Nipper as he tells his parents what he learned that day in school, which is the life of Martin R. Delany 1812-1885.This is where Lance Suarez comes in with a second art present by his own hand... Lance took it upon himself to create an overlay on the Soul Corner section so that Nipper can now tell his parents about who he learned about at school 50 years later in 2022. Now titled Chat Corner, that kid never graduated because he learned about some nutjob that comments too much on CAF, chats on Dueling Dealers, Ruben DaCollector's channel, Nick's art show, and the EXP shows! That guy is a shameless self promoter, has an ugly avatar, and after a year of commenting the other shoe will drop and he must have some secret evil agenda to spread his insipid observations and brainwash us with 5G. If you are smart, you'd avoid commenting on this one. Merry Christmas! P.S. Lance also gave me some Marvel Christmas tree ornaments and a set of the 1992 Eclipse Famous Comic Book Creators cards among other things. You can see Bob McLeod, John Romita Sr., Will Eisner, and sexy shirtless Todd McFarlane swinging his big shaft. Social/Sharing |

Let me be the first for once to leave a comment for the King of Comments. What a wonderful gift for a wonderfully gifted person. Do take care, and wishing you a very Merry Christmas too.

Haha, those stat overlays are loads of fun. It's true --- CAF, live YouTube comic art shows, and this hobby as a whole would not be the same without you, Marcus. The comments you leave on our posted artworks are witty and enjoyable, but they also contain nuggets of historical knowledge and valuable artistic insights. Thank you thank you thank you!! Looking forward to 2023!

Well, everybody except for that dude on the CGC boards who started an entire thread to talk about how annoying he found it to see Marcus leaving so many comments. It was on the level of Q-Anon conspiracies. He spoke like he actually knew what he was talking about and insisted that Marcus was putting all that effort in so that he could bring attention and traffic to his own gallery! Sigh....
This is an awesome strip, though you gotta give Lance credit as "writer", not just finisher. Wonderfully funny stuff, so kudos to Lance. I must say, McFarlane doing that Canseco homage is classic! I never knew he had once been caught on a published faux baseball card, naked and even holding his wood! By the way, I still have a practice worn Jose Canseco 1990 A's cap literally collecting dust if anyone wants to help me retire!
I hope you had a great Christmas, dude, thanks for everything! 🥰

Not comment worthy? You are being too modest. I am sure Marcus would agree.

Legend has it that Charles Dickens was also paid by the word. So the gig is up, Marcus !!! You've been found out. And only a few thousand words shy of that fabled CAF Black Diamond level membership. [insert_sad_trombone]. Seriously, we're looking forward to another year of your observations and comments !!!

Awesome strip, and I love the overlay! It's Mystery CAF Theater 2022. The trading cards tickled me, too. Looking forward to your comments in 2023, which I'm confident will be a great year!

Well, no one accused me of being smart, so here's my comment. I will sacrifice two chicken sammiches to the comic art gods to ensure our safety. That is such a fantastic and thoughtful gift. And with the backstory of the script, just super cool. Your comments are awesome, and thank you for bringing the upbeat funny around here. Happy Holidays, and have a great new year, Marcus! Excelsior

This is, hands down, one of THE coolest, most thoughtful (and most deserved) gifts ever. Your comments leave us laughin' and learnin', and they are an integral, essential part of the CAF experience to those with the great good fortune to receive them. :) I hope you (and all others on CAF) had a brilliantly spectacular holidays and that continues WELL into 2023! Thank you, Marcus!
