This is the Original Art for the 1:50 Retailer Incentive Variant Cover of SUPERMAN #34 (Oct. 2014); featuring Superman battling The Machinist (in shadow) and his army of killer robots...! This expertly designed Cover was penciled by John Romita, Jr. and inked by Klaus Janson. This is one of my favorite JRJR / Janson SUPERMAN Covers from The New 52! era.

Happy New Year, Fred, and what a great Superman cover with which to begin 2023! I always love cover images where the hero is doing battle while the mysterious villain behind the whole thing lurks in the shadows...or roiling smoke in this case, AS a shadow. Romita Jr and Janson are such an incredible artistic team.

Each one of these JRJR DC pieces are rare and one with Superman action and mystery is a standout! It's the kind of cover that he would use for Marvel books and it brings the story onto the cover.
