DescriptionImmediately following Batman #497 (when Bane broke Batman's back), this issue begins with Bane atop a building holding a broken Batman above his head. Bane throws the defeated Batman to the ground in front of a crowd leading to speculation in the city as to whether Batman is alive or dead.Without a Batman to face, Batman's foes struggle to come to terms with their new reality. Perhaps the most violent tragedy of Knightfall takes place in the hands (ha!) of the Ventriloquist. The Ventriloquist is caught in the middle of a bloodbath between Socko and Scarface as they both meet their end. THE DEATH OF SOCKO AND SCARFACE!!! 😵 🔫 ⚰️ NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Poor Socko. His revolver never stood a chance against Scarface's machine gun. I love how Chuck Dixon snuck profanity in to the dialog through the muffled voice of a sock puppet. "YRRR DDD MRRPHR!" Detective Comics #664 Knightfall part 12 "Who Rules The Night" - July 1993 Social/Sharing |

Thanks Derek! I still need to listen to the whole Knightfall audio story someday. I appreciate the link. Too bad the voice actor didn't deliver the line "YRRR DDD MRRPHR" 😂. I did, however, enjoy hearing the Ventriloquist say, "We... shot ourselves." That dialog is not on the page, but is depicted in the bottom panel. 😵 🔫

Yeah for the audio-only medium, they occasionally need to add some clunky expository dialogue (but usually delievered wonderfully).
"Allow me to explain (WITH THIS CHAIR!)" - Joker to Scarecrow when his feargas doesn't work on him. 😂.

Crazy page, love it! The gun sound effects are a nice touch. Poor Scarface, AND Socko - these characters are so FUN! Congrats, man!

The off camera violence is cool! The open middle section is clever too like the guy is running off the page wanting nothing to do with this.

I seriously hope that Socko makes it to the big screen one day. This page is pure gold.
