DescriptionI’m thinking by this point that I’ve used the expression 'raw elemental fury' more times in comments or descriptions of Mike Perkins' work than I have at any other juncture in my life, but... come on. My hands are kinda tied here… :)An absolute slobberknocker of a DPS that reeks of (say it with me here) raw, elemental fury - even literally “elemental”, as we’re re-introduced to the most recent addition to the Pantheon of The Green, the Wodewos. And honestly, I can’t even begin to put together a string of superlatives that will adequately do any type of justice to panel 4. One of my favorite images of Swamp Thing from an amazing run chock full of awesome Swamp Thing images. Thank you again VERY much, Chris! (Brilliant colors by Mike Spicer on the published page! Thanks, Rubén, for the published image! Find more of Mike’s artwork at comicbookartgallery.com !) Social/Sharing |

As far as I'm converned, the 4rth panel is the only thing you need on this one given how superb it is. I also like how he went for absence of background/white on the inserts. Congrats, Jason.

As a lifelong fan of King Kong, turning the page to see this magnificent double page splash evoked a rush of wonderful emotions. Of course I almost immediately looked over to the right because that extreme closeup commands so much attention, but then had to go back to the main image to take it all in. Those of you who are fans of King Kong or at least remember the classic scene this evokes will know exactly what I'm talking about. Congrats on landing this one, Jason!

Swamp Thing’s back
The Green took your Wodebos
Welcome back
Not that same old swamp that Moore wrote about
Well, the names have all changed
Since you read aloud
Perkins dreams have in frame
Ram V now turned around
Who'd have thought they'd read you
(Who'd have thought they'd read you)
Back here where we need wood?
(Back here where we need wood?)
Yeah, they tease him a lot
Perkins got inks and the wash
Welcome back
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back
Welcome back, welcome back

If I started a rock band, I would call it Raw Elemental Fury. 😎 But I agree, that phrase fits so many of Mike Perkins' artworks, but I would also say the word "magnificent" applies to everything he draws. Especially this particular piece. Wow!! Major congrats!

Awesome DPS! So much to love in this amazing image. That final mug shot of ST is so good, and the lighting of the tree bridge and atmospherics around the looming giant in the central panel are terrific. I'm just now realizing that the scene in the middle feels familiar because it's obviously a callback to the original King Kong movie. Great example from this terrific series

Another Perkins winner! Man, when looking at all the posts it's not lost on me why you've picked up as many as you have. Here you got the storytelling, the splash, the head shot, the multiple textures and layers via mixed media...as they say, "this one's got it all"! I believe I've cited that on a number of Perkins SW pieces :) Congrats, J!

I don't know why Swamp Thing seems to bring out the best in the artists who bring his stories to life, but Perkins continues that grand tradition. Amazing work.

I am sorry that this is so late but I somehow missed it. I love Mike Perkins's work and he really outdid himself this time around with this wonderful and really striking DPS. Many congrats, Jason!
