Cool opening page by John Calnan. With inks by Giordano, there are shades of Neal Adams in that bottom left image. There's a small sketch on back of the cover to this issue.

Very nice and dramatic and mystery opener to get us hooked! The odd Bat symbol design tells us this is a different kind of tale.

Agreed! Enough of a mystery for me to track down the issue to see what it's all about. My collection starts a few years after this issue, so the hunt is on.

This is the first Batman comic I ever bought. I read it until the cover fell off. Calnan inked by Giordano or himself is very good. Calnan inking others not so much. He is best as a penciller.
