It's great old school Conan!  Sweeping scene with thematic horror of the monster from the evil sorceror!  Brawn vs magic!

Agreed!  Thankfully for Conan, on the next page, Thoth Amon decides "now is not the time to battle", and Conan lives to fight another day.  ;0)

Cool DPS!  In case you didn't notice, the "scum" crawling out of the bar is Fixx from Dreadstar.  Nice little Easter egg.

Wow! I had no idea on that Easter egg. Looks like Fixx has 8 appreances in Dreadstar, so I guess now is as good a time as any to re-read my Dreadstar collection.  Thanks!!

Gotta love it!  Jack and Stan started the tradition in FF and this with Marv and Sal made it feel like we are in on the joke.

I remember seeing Stan make some guest appreances as well.  I think he was in this Nova issue too. I wasn't aware Stan and Jack started this in FF.  Guess it's time to crack open the Omnibus again for those early issues!

Great page.  Love Sal's work on this series and Palmer's inks work really well.  It was a fun book and I think I had most of them, but haven't read them in a while.  You mention Len (I assume you mean Wein) but the other person running with Sal is Marv Wolfman.  A bunch of the Marvel staff appear in this issue, but I don't think Len is in there.  Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for catching the typo!  I fixed the description.  I have no idea why I wrote Len instead of Marv.  I purposely double checked the panel to be sure I had the writer correct.  Good thing I was never a proof reader....

A classic rivalry from the Kirby / Colletta days renewed!  Immonen and Koblish has the action come over the top to push the action right onto the readers lap!

Agreed!  I think Koblish really nailed it on this one.

So Sal...Sinnott's inks top it off...$20? I had to pay $40 for my 1st (long gone) Sal Page!

Nice! I wish I had been collecting art when pages were $20 to $50 instead of trying to find comic books in the $1 bins....

Very nice and dramatic and mystery opener to get us hooked!  The odd Bat symbol design tells us this is a different kind of tale.

Agreed!  Enough of a mystery for me to track down the issue to see what it's all about.  My collection starts a few years after this issue, so the hunt is on.

Pretty good page as it is all reaction shots of people who witness Omega's deeds.  There are many opinions shown in all the expressive faces.

Thank you for the comment!  I totally agree. The people in the last panel are certainly not "look up in the sky, it's Superman" excited...they're pretty freaked out!

Beautiful! My read is that Johnny has just become aware of the SECOND monster robot that has appeared from behind a building and is now racing down the street to aid its beleaguered brother. Uh oh . . .

You are 100% correct!  Been a while since the issue came out, so I just opened it, and on the next page, there are two more giant robots coming on to the scene and Johny takes the 1st one out.  Good call.

Congratulations on a truly EPIC page from an epic storyline. Two big bold "SILVER SURFERS" printed on the same page. That's totally cool.  I especially like panels 3 and 6. But I'm biased since John Buscema has been my all time favorite artist from day one (somewhere in the 1970s...)

I can see that.....possibly due to Klaus' inks?

Awesome Maleev example.  I love how he can takes these characters with a single color costume and make them really pop!  The blue hues here really complete the piece IMO.  Congrats!

Agreed! I remember him asking "how about a splash of color?".....what...was I going to say no? It is now framed and proudly displayed.

One of the absolute top talents of the past 30 years. So fundamentally sounds throughout his career, and he's actually still improving! Congrats on a great sketch, and for singlehandedly being responsible for uploading the majority of the uploaded art on CAF in the past 24 hours all on your own. Quite an update!

Haha...thank you!! I've been a fan of this website for years and finally joined last year. This weekend I had a free Sunday afternoon and decided to step out of my comfort zone and actually post every piece of art I own even though it's nothing in comparison to everyone else here. Some of these pieces were even purchased from other comicartfans members! But this is a great way to show my friends and family more about this hobby, so I figured why not?  Also I totally agree with your comments about Lee Weeks. A tremendous talent and a very nice man.
