DescriptionThis is the May. Day 29. Thirty-One days of Star Wars continues...After the rescue and recovery team returns with the sad news she did not survive the crash of her X-Wing, Ibtisam is mourned by her fellow Rogues. The heart of this series (which will culminate with the next and final issue) is the working class ensemble feel. These aren't our heroes from the movies. These are the pilots flying, living, and dying in the background of the films. Be it Battlestar Galactica, Top Gun, or Space: Above and Beyond (a personal favorite), I often gravitate towards a good film, show, or yarn about a group of fighter pilots. Like the X-Wing novels they were tied into (also written by Stackpole), this comic series helped to ground the Star Wars universe from just being space opera, and relate the true price paid for a galaxy's freedom. A fitting post as we observe Memorial Day 2023. Social/Sharing |

I knew a fan, bought him any page
Few folks even knew Jeff's name
Buys a Crespo, yes t'was he
Left a boy came back a fan
Enemy just fought Ibtisam
About that Freedom's price ain't free
I can't forget the look Nrin his eyes
Or the tears he cried
As he said these words to me
All gave some and Mon gave all
And some stood through for the Jedi and truth
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all Calamari and recall
Some gave all
