Description

French author Jean Bruce created Hubert Bonnsseur de La Bath, agent OSS117, 4 years before Fleming created Bond. He wrote many 1950s Cold War era novels that found a ready audience decades later. A comparison overview of '007' and '117' would probably find the former more suave and the latter more earthy than his fictional rival.

This Areredit comic version came out in 1980 based on the novel's yarn about skulduggery around a nuclear submarine base in Scotland. Hubert is tasked with countering Russian espionage activity around the base and finds himself immersed in that kind of violent, sleazy world that the art of comics and films expresses so well. Here he has infiltrated the spy ring posing as an upright military personna that the gang leader, Lenihan, is planning on corrupting. In this scene Hubert is an unwitting guest at a porn film show and as it ends he is asked if he�d like to get to know the young female star - just before being drugged unconscious in the following scene.
