DescriptionDuring the events of Reign of the Supermen, one catastrophic event was the destruction of Coast City. With that, there was a tie in issue of Green Lantern (Issue 46) as Hal returns home from space to discover his home city gone and millions dead. He then proceeds to kick the crap out of Mongul who he finds boasting about his role in the destruction. I of course knew who Green Lantern was, but this was the comic of his that I purchased. I became quite intrigued by his story, and his descent into madness was one that, to me, made sense organically. I also immediately took to his eventual replacement, Kyle Rayner. So while many hated this turn for Hal, it got me hook on GL comics and DC gained a reader! Hal’s journey from GL to Parallax to The Spectre and back to GL began here and those were all entertaining stories. It’s one of the beauties of comics & it’s long form story telling, these types of stories can be explored while knowing Hal would eventually return to his status as a Green Lantern. When it came time to representing this confrontation between Hal & Mongul there were only two names I wanted, Mark Bright & Romeo Tanghal (the creative duo on GL #46). I was lucky enough to set up a piece with Mark a few years back and just recently was able to get those pencils inked by Romeo. Man, it really feels great to be able to reunite a creative team whose work captured my imagination like theirs did for me! Love that Hal is seen here charging in and just taking it straight to Mongul! Much like he did in that issue! Just a powerful piece that takes me back in all the best ways like these commissions are intended to do! Social/Sharing |

It brings back a pivotal 90's event that changed the course of GL and DC with Hal forever changed! Masterful reintepretation by the orignal team!

FANTASTIC!!!
It's a shame we don't see more commissions from Mark Bright- he was an amazing artist and a pleasure to get a commission from!
This piece really does give us that fight Hal needed to avenge Coast City! Great composition and execution from pencilers and inked.
