Description

I tend to shy away from using the term grail, for a couple of reasons, but if I had one, this would be it. Not only does this page have Supergirl, Matter Eater Lad, and Element Lad (all in disguise) on it, but it features the Legion of Substitute Heroes sweeping in to help the Science Police, only to realize that all is not as it seems. Subs on the page include Polar Boy, Night Girl, Fire Lad, Color Kid, and Stone Boy. And it's a fight page to boot. This is one of my favorite Legion stories. I love the dialogue by Jim Shooter and the artwork by Win Mortimer. All I can say is ... Long live the (Substitute) Legion! (Signed by Shooter after the photo was taken.)

This has got to be the best page of the book! So many of them in action is a tough feat that Mortimer does with style and joy!
