This everyday story of WW1 folk never fails to shock, amuse and engage the reader. A true tour de force.

This issue the story adroitly toggles between the apocalyptic violence of the German Judgement Troopers on the Western front to the domestic concerns of Charley's family in 1916 London. Fate takes a hand, and The Judgement Troopers' onslaught is halted...for now...

Pencil caption reads: 'Eagle issue 310, Cut to allow for title'. When this story was reprinted in 1988 in The Eagle, this page became the first page. Such a shame to loose Joe's glorious cover!
