Description

17”x27” (frame 21”x31”) Painted in 1981; purchased in 2019. I first saw this painting in the Pendragon Gallery in Annapolis in the early 1980s and can still remember where it was in the gallery. When I saw Ryan listed her for sale here (thank you!), it was a done deal. Now she sits across from me in my home office. Cover for the hardcover book by Piers Anthony of the same name, published by Random House Publishing, 1981. Also published in the book, The Fantastic Art of Rowena, by Pocket Books in 1983. And also the cover for the World Fantasy Convention 1983 program.

Rowena was an amazing and really unique artist and you're lucky to own gorgeous examples of her work! This piece urges me to return perusing my copy of "The Fantastic Art of Rowena"

My favorite Rowena since I read the book when it came. Looking at the cover was the first time I really looked to see who the cover artist was.

Such vibrant hues of red and blue on the featured elements. The nice lighter shades of red with blue for the floor and the background is just so unique and lovely. It is delicately controlled that it does not go fully purple.

Very nice, but surely you don't want this many Rowena paintings do you? You can gift one to me to feel better
