DescriptionKeeping Fantastic Four baddies (or antagonists, at least!) going with another Namor add – this a suh-weet vintage-y published example. From before my time, but it checked lotsa boxes, in addition to my just flat out immediately liking it when it came up for auction on Heritage a couple months back. That checklist:· Didn’t own a Ron Wilson piece yet · Didn’t own a Namor piece yet · Splashy (pun!) shot · Got him both flying AND swimming · Top caption, announcing name/arrival Love the multi box checks. And love these pieces that have a big character shot alongside with some storytelling panels – best of both worlds, and often less pricey than a technical full page splash :) Great energy, movement, depth…just screams “classic Marvel” to me, in the vein of Jack and John. Ron doin’ his thing, no doubt, with a killer ink assist by Tartaglione. And that OTHER FF antagonist mentioned on the page, who Namor’s just broken ties with…a bit of a harbinger. Started the FF villain CAF post theme with him and gonna end with him as well. Stay tuned! Social/Sharing |

Awesome!!! Love the tall splash panel with the sequence to the right. Makes for a hell of a viewing...over and over again. Congrats!

I absolutely LOVE this one, K. As you say, a splash in its own right, plus you get those great story telling panels which are pure bonus, especially if they reduce the impact to your wallet :-) Namor looks fantastic, but for some reason I really love those flying fishies in midair below him. So cool!!!

Incredible and powerful Sub-mariner leaping from the sea, what a fantastic shot courtesy of the talented Ron Wilson!

Ha ha, I like it! Cleva boy. SHARK, baby. Who else got both Splash and Aerial command?! Well, Namorita does come right to mind. But who else?! :) Thanks, M, and all, for the comments!

Beautiful! Love the vertical layout here (and with the stack of panels 3, 4, and 5 on the right, it feels like Namor is shooting forwards towards the reader with even greater velocity!). I also appreciate how the flying fish below Namor add a fun element of contrary motion. But look at his outstretched HANDS!! The look of those hands is CLASSIC MARVEL at its most primal and awesome. The hands of -A- king (in Namor) and -THE- King (in Kirby), all through Wilson! Another SPECTACULAR Namor example, KG! Huge congrats!

A couple folks mentioned the fish :) And though I didn't say specifically in my description, I dig 'em, too. But yeah, dude. Marvel Magic on full display, and them mitts a big reason. Primo example IMO. No bias ;) Thanks!

Wilson draws a mean Namor! Cool page with Subby in his element.

Awesome 2-in-1 page that doesn't even need the Thing!
Of course the splash makes the page and captures attention (for good reason), but the movement in the smaller panels is great Subby too.

Until the end of time
I'll be there 4 Sue
Sue owns my heart and mind
It's truly Namor Sue
If God one day struck me blind
Her beauty I'd still see
Love is 2 in 1 defined
Just what Sue means to me
From the Ron Wilson way he drew
Ooh, I knew Sue was the one
That night I had to call Sue
I was rappin' till my fins came up
Tellin' Sue just Tartaglione
In a word, Sue were fishy
All of my cool attitude Sue hooks
My body was next
Sue made love to me
Like you where afraid
Was Sue afraid of me?
Was I the first?
Was I marine biology?

Well, he was PRINCE Namor before he became the King :) AGAIN with a killer song choice mixed with your lyrical adds...all about that one and only invisible lady. Poor Subby. WAS it your marine biology? Lol, great capper lyric, my friend. Bravo!

Fantastic foreshortening on that large figure. Fun stuff for sure! It kind of snuck up on my slowly, but, when did your love for Black Panther become a love for Namor the Sub-Mariner?

Man, it was just coincidental! Happened to see not one but 2 Namor pieces almost back to back that I just flat out like the look of. So here they are! But dude...you KNOW T'Challa's the man. Stay tuned. Maybe next week? He might be back. And maybe facing off against another Marvel character that shares royal aspects with the Kings of Wakanda and Atlantis. Hmmm..... :) Thanks, Ruben - glad you like!

This is what was missing from the new BP movie. Blockhead Subby. Love the look of this page. Dynamic posing and a real sense of speed. Love it!

Lots of reasons to love this Submariner page by Ron Wilson! Love the huge figure of Namor flying through the sky. And how cool is the foreshortening of his body (Massive hands, tiny feet) that creates the sense of depth on the page? Also, there's the little fishes leaping out of the water below Namor. And besides that, there's lots of great storytelling in the three small panels at the bottom. All in all, it's a fantastic Bronze Age page to add to your collection.

Super cool piece. Just got back from a vacation snorkeling an hour outside of Puerto Vallarta. I may have caught a glimpse of this fellow in the water. That or just another tourist lol. Awesome piece.

Tartaglione dark inks and thick lines are perfect with Wilson here. Totally gives it that classic marvel feel. And what a great Namor page! Wilson was totally doing an Everett homage, too, with that great school of Everett Fish, and those great action angles. Yeah, I can see why you had to snag this off of Heritage. Imperious Rex!

Appreciate you calling out Everett's contribution! I've never read those books, so don't know the art, but I'll check it out. Always love seeing those connections of artists' influences, who they subtley homage in their work, etc. And yes! "Imperious Rex!", indeed :)
