Description“Diane, 11:30 AM, March 23rd. Entering the town of Twin Peaks...”The feeling of excitement would be an understatement for this specific commission. It's safe to say that I love Twin Peaks just as much as I love comic art. The series holds some personal meaning to me as well, just like comic art is capable of, so this piece hits on many levels. It is a commission idea that I had wanted for some time, and that came after pining over a Twin Peaks piece that Mike Allred had done for Jeff Lemire. So to see this become a reality is such a beautiful thing, it's tough to really put into words. First and foremost, in my extremely long winded request to Simon, I wanted to make sure that the film “Fire Walk With Me” was part of this piece, and was it ever! The inclusion of the Blue Rose Task Force, comprised of Deputy Director Gordon Cole (David Lynch) and Agent Phillip Jeffries (David Bowie) represent such an important moment in the overall series and story. Mike capturing Agent Jeffries in this exact moment sends the commission over the top, and to be honest I can not deal! Way too cool!!! Not only is the film captured wonderfully here, but per the overall idea, I really wanted to see Diane included in the commission. She appears in the The Return which aired in 2017 and is played by Laura Dern. She is a pivotal part of the operation and Mike nails the character representation (as he does with everyone). That leads to the main focus of this commission which is The Black Lodge, where we find Laura Palmer and Agent Dale Cooper, trusty recorder in hand. This is an iconic scene, one that I have seen many times and will never, ever tire of seeing. It is captured perfectly. For the official record, the concept of The Black Lodge is my favorite thing...ever. Yes, ever. Come and fight me fanboys! Another wonderful touch here is the tree in the top right. That's not just any old tree, that's “The Arm”! Overall, Mike has successfully captured characters from the original series, the film, and the return. It comes together wonderfully to represent the series as a whole. It's incredibly cool to know that Mike is a Twin Peaks fan too. I believe that is quite evident when I hold this in my hands and continue to stare... and that's when you take a look at it in color! I knew Laura would kill it and oh she did, right down to Philip Jeffries' outfit! I have had this in my possession for a couple days and I just keep looking at both back and forth. I would like to send the sincerest thank you to Mike and Laura Allred. I can't tell you how much I love the end result. It is an instant favorite. Last but definitely not least, a big thank you to my wonderful friend Simon for the art! Oh man, there is an extended hug coming your way! :) If you are interested in a commission from Michael Allred, which I highly recommend, you can get in touch with Simon here: Got Super Powers? Thanks to Bill for imposting character limits on descriptions or I don't know how much longer you would have gone on, probably detailing all the prior Twin Peaks episodes and how they took the characters emotionally and mentally to this place...
But it's a damn fine piece of art. Happy you are so happy with it, and yes, Mike loved doing it!

Lol..yes, CAF character limits spared everyone today. Did you read the part about the hug at the end? Just went from optional to mandatory.

Always awesome when the Allreds' talents are applied to pop culture projects outside of comics. You can see they adapt it with a lot of care and in celebration of the property bringing out the essence and the core of the subject. It has the eerie feel to this ensemble piece very much in line with the original.

A home run, a six (cricket, fool!), a touchdown and a 4-point play all wrapped in one. Brilliant idea and execution for a commission!

I can imagine Mike having a tremendous amount of fun when conceptualizing this piece. So cool to read the description and bathe in the fandom! I want to talk Twin Peaks with you at Heroes this summer over beers.

Man, the perfect artist to commission for the subject matter. The likenesses are there, but Alllred-ized! Though more realistic due to it being based on TP, it's still so clearly Allred. Some creative composition and imagery, too, man. Whew. Big congrats!

Wow! The Allreds knocked this out of the park and then some. This brilliant commission captures everything that was weird and wonderful about Twin Peaks.

What a striking piece! You had such a strong, specific idea for your commission and it's fantastic that Mike and Laura were able to bring your idea to life. I have to say the final commission is amazing!
