DescriptionI really love this artwork, it could be the best surviving page from this truly hilarious story “Paperino e l'imperatore degli Stati Uniti" aka "Donald Duck and the Emperor of the United States"There is also other great pages in this story, but I am not sure if they have survived? - you can find only a few surviving original pages from this story from the past auctions and here in CAF. The artwork is from y1967 and the artist Pier Lorenzo de Vita had a very unique design for his Ducks, easy to recognize from the other artists. His stories have a dreamlike atmosphere, especially due to expressively stretching characters and distorted perspectives. The story has been published in 9 countries over 20 times, it is a pity not yet in English. The link into Inducks: https://inducks.org/story.php?c=I+TL++601-A Here is a short translation: Il mattino seguente The following morning Dove andate, sudditi? Where are you going, subjects? Se vostra masta' permette... If your master permits... Facciamo un salto fino alla biblioteca comunale... Let's go to the municipal library... Per consultare l'eciclopedia To consult the encyclopedia Saggia risoluzione. L'enciclopedia e' un pane prezioso per i cervelli affamati di nuove conoscenze! Wise solution. The encyclopedia is a precious bread for brains hungry for new knowledge! Andate, frugoletti. Mi compiaccio con voi! Go, little kids. I congratulate you! Additional picture presents the size of the original vs its printed format, in Finnish Aku Ankan taskukirja #8 (1971). It was the same size in the other European Disney pocket books. If you have any doubts about the framing... thinking black ink on white paper should have a matching frame, think again! Now we are not looking any royals there but the portrait of an emperor!! The content of the artwork is demanding decent framing around it ;-) Social/Sharing |

I also like the artist very much. This page is a beautiful example of his work. The frame is truly majestic as well.
