DescriptionI believe Werther only drew one page traditionally for Book of Slaughter and here it is. Book of Slaughter was a one-shot issue delving into a bunch of the lore of the Order of St George as well as telling a tale about Maxine Slaughter, who we've previously met wearing a white mask over in Something is Killing the Children. If this all means nothing to you, then you're not reading the books in the Slaughter-Verse! A bit of a superhero moment here as Maxine decides to leave the White Masks and put on the black mask for the first time, making her a solo monster hunter like Erica going forward.Social/Sharing |

Very cool and a Key moment for that character and perhaps the series. I think we both know who wore that mask previously and that other characters in the universe might have feelings about that! Congrats on the extremely rare Werther interior page, it's a dandy!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the origin of that specific mask. I'm still upset by what happened to Aaron!

Creases in your white mask
Bruises on your bare skin
Looks like a Werther fineness
You've got yourself into
Where's that Slaughter in you?
You're glad you read just one
Well, if you don't like the beat
Then don't save Children
Maxine
You're not the only one
To take the Slaughter on
But Someone's must have won

Nice choice of angle by Werther to show us the white mask on the floor...a truly "letting go" moment. As a guy who is constantly dropping stuff on the floor, I obviously can't relate...but what a joy to have gotten this page, congrats!

Incredible! Not sure how I didn't see this one but it rocks. The mask on the floor I imagine is the ultimate taboo for them so definite a defining moment for the character.
