Description

The father and son team up of Paolo and Joe Rivera is a wonderful one, and that is on full display with these pages from Hellboy & the B.P.R.D.. Joe's inks here are absolutely gorgeous. I know a lot of collectors don't like art on separate boards, but I truly find both to be exceptions. Really cool to see the overall process and Paolo's pencils are extremely tight. Also interesting to note the very minor changes that Joe made during inking (e.g. the beast's mouth and teeth on page 19). I sincerely love every panel of page 11, especially the perspectives that were used.

Both of these pages feature some key Hellboy elements and that is mostly in the form of him taking a beating! You can check monster off the list, and each also have the red right hand in every panel. And what do you know, completely unrelated we've got wood in both! (If you need lumber, call my number.)

As a huge fan of the Mignolaverse, I am delighted to add these to the collection. Big thanks to Mark at Splash Page Art for these lovely Riveras!

Paolo is so good at paints and pin ups, people can forget his equally killer B&W interiors, with ink assist from dad, of course! Sweet top to bottom action scene storytelling, man. Congrats!

Love the hand of doom having wide flat fingers on this design. So much more expressive in the Rivera cartooning style.
