DescriptionAs mentioned in some of my other posts on Mike Perkins, Ram V, Declan Shalvey, Javi Fernandez, Dike Ruan, Simone Di Meo, Olivier Coipel, the first edition of Paris Fan Festival was definitely packed. Also in terms of fan attendance. You could hardly walk around in the Artist Alley and lines were forming all over. People pushing & nudging. Anyways. At the top of my list for the show, was the illustrious & not-always-easy-to-meet Pepe Larraz. He's the amazing Spanish maestro who worked on Marvel's "House of X" with Jonathan Hickman - which explained the constant 15-20 people line with French editions of that storyline. They had to put specific hours on his signing sessions due to their success. Now, Pepe doesn't typically do commissions. He might do a quick remark, but commissions? That's been a while since I've heard news on those. With him joining the Green Room Comic Art (as his rep), that meant he would do a few now. Scrolling on socials, I got lucky and snatched the very last "pre-convention" slot. That still meant the piece would be done at the show, not before. I believe that was the 4th spot. Considering his talent for drawing beautiful women without overtly sexualizing them (I love his Jean Grey) & cover run on "Black Cat", I went with that idea. I know. Original, right? Lo & behold, when I pick it up in the afternoon on Saturday: a beautiful ink wash rendition of Spidey's ex. Smilingly, Pepe held it in front of him and said "I think this is beautiful", as did Iciar & Belen Ortega. I was asked to send a scan over, but Pepe insisted on still immediately taking a picture of this piece when he was done. I think he really liked this one. By the way, I love how everyone from The Green Room genuinely seems like they're friends - or even family. That flowing hair - with the many shades of grey in there. The texture on her costume. And that piercing look. Extremely happy with it - and the attention it got from people at the show. Apparently, it's going to make one of Pepe's art books, as well. That's always fun! Size is A4 & done in pencils, inks & ink wash. Social/Sharing |

Hello, Killian!
I am so happy that you got this SO amazing piece. :^) As you mentioned, getting on Pepe's commission list is not an easy mission, but over that, this Black Cat is PURE Larraz. Just epic.
Sending you a big hug! And thanks again for your trust! :^)
Ps. You are right! We all are very close old friends and also, some of us, family (husbands&wifes). I'm happy to know that it can be felt!
