DescriptionI picked this page up from Murphy at the Lake Como Comic Art Festival. I love to see what artists come up with when left to themselves. This creator-owned series has the similar artistic concept as JH Williams III's Echolands: a motley team of heroes is assembled from different genres of comic books. Murphy's story adds an extra layer of "meta" since the team's purpose is to enter failing narratives and correct continuity errors. Furthermore, the main character and the team leader were inspired by Murphy and his own grandmother, so it's a personal tale as well. At this point in the story, Surge, the electric-powered supervillain team member, is convinced that the only way to end his own suffering is to burn everything down. Raisor, the vampire pirate queen, is trying to talk him down. The extreme angle on her nose recalls Spike from Cowboy Bebop. Social/Sharing |
