Description

This series had the blessing of Universal Pictures to use their versions of classic monster characters, but not authorization to use Bela Lugosi's likeness for Dracula himself. This proved little impediment. The Dracula seen here is certainly more menacing than the Gary Oldman fop version seen in the second half of Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula film.

In this scene, Dracula has entranced Lucy Weston, as seen from her red eyes behind the middle panel. Before coming to her physically, he entrances her through her boudoir mirror, as seen by the dozen spooky arms grabbing her.

Many of the pages in this book extensively use gold foil paint that looks better in person. This page has a little of that, but favors peach and mauve skin tones. Plus, of course, deep red.

Haunting dreamlike imagery! It works in sequence and as a whole to embody the lost of innocence!
