Description

Chiaroscuro was a nice little Vertigo book from the mid-90s when I was reading lots of Vertigo books. I picked this page up for $6 at Heritage which with all the extra fees wound up costing about $50 which is not too bad a price for a nice Truog half splash but still kind of annoying that I had to pay 8 times the amount of the page in extra costs. I'm glad that doesn't happen when I buy an expensive page.

It delivers on what the title is, introducing us with the style of artwork executed with sophistication and delicate care. It pays attention to the scientific aspects of how images appeared in perspective with lighting effects using illustrative techniques. If this was at the artist's table for $50, it'd be gone fast. The funds went to feed the delivery mechanism this time.

I'm usually willing to pay more if buying from the artist but I think I'm just still annoyed at Heritage for moving the art auction from Sunday to Wednesday years ago :)
