Description

THE RAWHIDE KID- 8.5 x 11 Gouache on cardboard. Kirby's Rawhide Kid, along with his Sgt. Fury and Thor comics, were among the very first that I'd ever seen, (or at least remembered) back in Guyana, when I first discovered American comics at about 8 years old...We had no TV back then, only newspaper strips and radio. Kirby work was like a vision from another planet--which turned out to be America... :)

This is also the only time that I've ever painted with gouache on cardboard--and I really should do another one of The Two-Gun Kid, my 2nd favorite Kirby cowboy! (3rd would be Kid Colt, natch--but The King only drew covers for him.)
