DescriptionI first encountered this art not in comic books, but in the freemium phone game Marvel Snap, in which players build decks of cards to battle each other using Marvel characters. Lozano's X-Men cover appears in the game as a premium upgrade for the basic Cyclops card, which was a staple in my decks, and it never failed to elicit compliments from other players. Another CAF member posted the cover art in his gallery, which was how I became aware of this piece's pedigree. Before attending Lake Como Comic Art Festival, I researched all the artists and discovered that Lozano would be there. We met at the reception; he was unaware that his art had been incorporated into the video game. The next day at the convention, he showed me that he had brought this 8x11 preliminary pencil version of the cover. How could I pass it by? Social/Sharing |
