Using these bright primary colors works really well when they clash for visual effect of contrast. The Phantom in red is very eye catching as we are used to the purple.

L'uso di questi colori primari luminosi funziona davvero bene quando si scontrano per l'effetto visivo del contrasto. Il Fantasma in rosso è molto accattivante dato che siamo abituati al viola.

I want remember that the first comic book in colors (in the world) was published in Italy, in Florence in 1937, by the publisher Mario Nerbini who decided the RED color for the reasons you explained.
