DescriptionThe year was 1996, and although I was already four years into my career as a traveling cruise ship musician, I was still avidly reading both Marvel and DC books, and this particular comic book still has very fond memories for me. It's also one of my very favorite cover images, with Superboy workin' those cool, hipster shades.PLUS the cover features the 1st appearance of three new characters -- Aura, Hero and Kaliber! -- as well as the lovely Sparx. It was no Justice League Of America, but it was still a really fun team of superheroes. I was super excited to be able to grab this cover and add it to my collection a few years back. And today I picked up the cover to issue #6 from Panel Page Art, so I thought it was a perfect time to post the #1. Thanks for looking! Social/Sharing |

The ship brought you back. I told you she won't let you leave. She won't let anyone leave. Did you really think you could destroy this ship? She's defied space and time. She's been to a place you couldn't possibly imagine. And now, it is time to go back.

Oh, it figures! I was intending on telling you what a cool coincidence it was to see you posting a cover from this series because another one had just sold earlier today! Congrats on owning the first issue, though! But tell me, I wasn't reading comics at this point in time, so do you remember why they needed to do this series, given that the regular Superboy series was still ongoing at the time? I also don't recall this series even being referred to in the regular series, let alone cross over with it. Just seems odd to have started a 2nd series teaming him up with a super group which had no ties to the first series. Drop some knowledge on me!

Superboy in the nineties was always such a fun read. Wish they would have done more with him. Great cover, Paul.

Superboy was certainly the hippest 90's teen in DC. Those Robins always had self doubt and everyone else was getting aged up to be grim and gritty. The only one more fun would be Impulse, but he was a fish out of water (timestream), so Superboy was the cool kid in school.

I picked up this series a few years after it ended, and I remember it being a fun read. I'd love for there to be more books like this today, especially if Paul Pelletier was on the art. Fabulous cover!

Great add, Paul...! But cruise ship musician?!? That's -AWESOME-. I'm avidly awaiting the comic book adaptation of your adventures there... It's gotta be a cross between 'The Deep' and 'Scott Pilgrim', right? ;) lol A terrific "good guy looking bad-###" cover; congrats on landing both the #s 1 and 6!

The cover to SATR #6 was originally intended for #1. The published cover to #1 is a "re-do".

Great cover! I was at a panel discussion at Heroes Con and Paul called this series out as one he really enjoyed working on - very fond memories for him as well. Congrats!
