DescriptionDay 02. Thirty-One days of Star Wars (2024 edition) continues!Han's old friends Salla Zend and Shug Ninx are in possession of the Millennium Falcon, and hanging out in a spacer bar with a couple of deep-core hauler acquaintances. The pair await an update from Han for a pick-up of his party. Han makes contact, but things aren't quite going according to plan, and Salla and Ninx get ready to make a run in the Falcon. I have been waiting since last June to post this piece and finally check the Cam Kennedy Dark Empire box for my gallery. Mr. Kennedy opened sales for a short window last year, and after sending various page selections which all went to other buyers who responded quicker than I did, my fifth pick was the charm! Dark Horse brought Star Wars back to comics in the 1990s, and kicked things off in a big way with Star Wars: Dark Empire in 1991. The series spawned two sequel series - Dark Empire II (again with painted interiors by Kennedy) and Empire's End (with painted interiors by Jim Baikie). Achievement unlocked! MTFBWY Social/Sharing |

To see some Kennedy, yeah
The whole world was claiming art, baby
Right down to fifth choice please
'Cause I've hung up Han's dream
In color Kenendy, yeah
Lord help me, babe

Show my Darkest Empire
Gonna post out a new page, yeah
Find art from the art drop, baby
Lord, get back Zendcond place
'Cause I got dreams, I've got my dreams
To remember Falcon we had
I got dreams, I've got my dreams
To remember Falcon we had

LOVE this page. Anytime someone is able to illustrate the "other side" of Star Wars I am there for it. Cam is a singular genius and I for one really value his contribution to the SW legacy.

There is a method to my May madness! But this one was a total fluke. I'll still take credit for it though. Ha!

It does have a bayou feel, especially with the giant space crayfish.

Wow, you know the art in a series is pretty great when your FIFTH selection is THIS good!

Yep. Through the whole process I was thinking "If I get anything at all, I'll be happy and satisfied".

It was certainly a key in ressurecting the franchise in the 1990s, and set Dark Horse in a strong position to hold that license for the next 20 years.
